In today’s age, every individual requires some form of support within an organisation to build or further develop their skills. My role is to identify, support and help the individual develop these required skills. I am also responsible for reporting what training the organisation has conducted and plans on conducting to the relevant SETAs. This directly empowers employees and assists in maximising productivity for the organisation.
I have many stories to share, but my biggest impact has been providing opportunities to unemployed youth. There was nothing more rewarding than assisting an individual obtain a qualification and providing them with the work experience which could result in a chance for permanent employment. Knowing that I have contributed towards opening a door for them and contributing towards developing our future leaders is immeasurable.
This would be the time that we created training videos together with subject matter experts from across RMA. A portion of the development required us to travel to various parts of Gauteng to meet with a few of our pensioners. Putting this together allowed me to understand the direct impact of what RMAs purpose is, and how our Clients receive our service. A really humbling and fulfilling experience.
When I joined RMA in 2014, we had a staff compliment of 119, currently we are close to 420. The personal growth experience has been astounding. There has been magnificent exposure from various angles such as, development of training videos to assist thousands of stakeholders, implementation of a Learning Management System, development of online personal development plans and workflows. RMA also restructured and become a Financial Services Provider, this required much planning and the implementation of a variety of different compliance training. I also implemented various learnerships for unemployed and employed individuals. Being involved in numerous projects for various departments has also developed my skills and capabilities in understanding specialisations in other departments and their learning needs. There is too much mention.
Employees need assistance, guidance and coaching on a daily basis from a specialist. When this is readily available and provided to employees, it provides that personal touch and displays an element of caring in our environment, I am adding value in taking RMA to greater heights through our people.
RMA’s environment creates stimulation as it is a growing environment. It challenges your problem solving skills, caters for exposure to various environments, supports learning and development opportunities and has good and sincere intentions for its Clients.
The company has grown rapidly in a space of 4 years. One needs to have resilience, competent thinking, exceptional problem solving skills and decision making skills. The ability to communicate effectively and work within a team is critical. Recently, technological skills have also become essential as companies are advancing towards a more technological savvy way of operating. The willingness to learn and grow is also an advantage, as the environment is changing constantly, self-management and flexibility will compliment this environment.
The short term and long term incentives bonuses have been superb. It has assisted me to relax from a financial point. Not many individuals from other companies can say this.
Belonging to a well-recognised company and knowing that I have added to its success feels rewarding. I can safely say that when I describe RMA, it’s national footprint and its purpose, I feel proud knowing that I am part of it and I add value daily.
