Taking care of lives since 1894

Excellence in administration of occupational injuries & diseases.

Founded as a mutual assurance company in 1894, RMA was established to administer worker’s compensation to mining employees injured in the workplace. Incorporated as a public company in 1899, today, we are the administrator of choice for occupational injuries and diseases for Mining, Iron, steel, artificial limbs, galvanising, garages, metal, and related industries in South Africa, operating under both long- and short-term insurance licenses. In the 128 years since RMA was founded, our purpose remains to provide ongoing medical treatment and compensation for injured workers according to the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA). We have developed a range of products and services such as our COID cover and Value-Added Life Product offerings to aid employees, as part of our commitment to providing caring, compassionate compensation.
