Active Citizenship

As a company, we are passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and are proud to be part of the movement for empowering communities through Corporate Social Investment Initiatives that have a significant impact on South African society, offering opportunities for both economic and social progress.

Some of the CSI initiatives we participated in included, the Financial Inclusion week in October and the Tshirologo Disability Group for Charity Golf Day in November.

Financial Inclusion Week - Financial Empowerment for Young Adults

In support of empowering young adults to be financially savvy, we partnered with The Financial Sector Transformation Council (FSTC) and the Financial Sector Campaign Coalition (FSCC) for the Financial Inclusion Week which ran from the 21st – 25th October 2019 at the ThutoMfundo Adult Learning Centre in Vosloorus, Gauteng.

The 2019 Financial Inclusion week is dedicated to stakeholders within the financial community across the globe participating in conversations around achieving full financial inclusion. This means that, where everyone who is able to use financial services, should have access to a full suite of quality financial services, provided at affordable prices, in a convenient manner, with respect and dignity. Within this vision, financial services are delivered by a range of providers, in a stable, competitive market to financially capable clients.

As a licensed Financial Service Provider, we joined the movement of Financial Inclusion and partnered with FSTC to empower the South African youth from previously disadvantaged communities, towards achieving financial wellbeing through training on financial literacy and access to financial products and services.

The Financial Inclusion Week sessions were attended by 130 grade 12 learners who had the opportunity to learn the basics of handling their money and finances to fully meet current and ongoing financial obligations, feeling secure in their financial future, choosing and using different financial products, and shielding themselves from unexpected financial pains, which may result from wrong financial decisions. The program guided these young adults on how to start early planning for their financial lives, and by the time they grow into full adulthood, they have the capability to prepare a secure financial future for themselves and their families.

Tshirologo Disability Group Charity Golf Day 2019

In commemoration of the Disability Rights Awareness Month which ran from 03 November to 03 December 2019, we sponsored several organisations involved in disability support and awareness. On 22 November 2019, we partnered with the Tshirologo Disability Group for the annual Tshirologo Golf Day, held at the Pecanwood Golf & Country Estate.

The Tshirologo Disability Group’s main mission is to promote inclusivity and integration of blind, deaf and other disabled people, to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those marginalised by disability (including those with mild to moderate physical disability, visual and hearing impairments, and autism).

RMA supports the empowerment of persons with disabilities and the Tshirologo Disability Group provides education, training and access to the latest in technological support, for people living with Disabilities.

The Tshirologo Golf Day was attended by captains of industry and respected business leaders, well established business owners, Tshirologo public and private sector clients and recipients of CSI initiatives. The day was focused on encouraging its attendees to “do good for others” and to set an example of this movement, the organisation donated two computer labs for two selected schools, from the proceeds of the Golf Day.

We believe by promoting empowerment, real opportunities for people are created. When people are empowered they are better prepared to take advantage of opportunities, and they become agents of change.
